The         Behind the Work
People
DWM is led by Devin McLaughlin, a Greenville-based craftsman who takes great pride in his work. Outside of the business, Devin and his partner Erin enjoy trips to the mountains, soccer at the Kroc Center, grilling, and spending time with friends in Downtown Greenville. He previously biked across the country to raise money for suicide prevention and is currently working toward his private pilot license. After exploring other career paths, Devin returned to working with his hands, where he feels the most fulfilled after each day. The goal now is simple: build a close-knit team that shares the same standards, so DWM can serve more homeowners across Greenville with quality work and genuine care.

Custom Work Trailer
What started as my dad’s 25-year-old work trailer—once the backbone of his remodeling business, then parked for years as a storage unit—turned into one of the most fun builds I’ve done. After I mentioned needing more than just a truck bed to operate efficiently, he passed it down and the project kicked off. Every inch was stripped, rust removed, then fully primed and painted to bring it back to life. From there, it became about function: I built a custom flip-up wall section with a pull-out miter saw station so I can work comfortably from outside while still using the enclosed space. A cord reel setup lets me plug into shore power, feeding dimmable LED lighting and integrated wall outlets for clean, reliable power. The final layer was dialing in shelving and tool organization—everything has a place, and it’s all designed so I’m ready for whatever a project throws at me. It’s a nod to where I learned the trade, upgraded for how I work today.

The Van Life Build
Erin and I had a shared goal to travel the country via the Van Life, and after a lot of talking about it we decided to pull the trigger. We picked up a Ford Transit—tight on space but fuel efficient—which meant every inch had to be planned right. I was working remodeling jobs during the day and building the van at night, with Erin stepping in along the way. The project covered everything: framing, insulation, upholstery, and a solar system built to handle real use on the road. It was less about making it look perfect and more about making it work reliably in a small footprint. The finished build became our home for nearly four months as we traveled through around 35 states, putting every system to use and proving the build held up.
Food Trailer Conversion
My sister Meag and I set out to build something of our own. She brought hands-on experience managing an açaà bowl shop, and I brought a background in building and problem-solving. Together, we bought an enclosed cargo trailer and turned it into a fully functioning mobile food unit designed for weekend events. I handled the full build - carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, while Meag developed the branding, menu, and sourcing strategy. It was a true ground-up project that pushed both of us to learn as we went. After about a year of operating, we sold the business as a turnkey business to a couple in North Carolina, where it’s still running today.
